Call for Applications for Volunteers of MUJER
MUJER is an organization that promotes the integral development of women, trans, gender non-conforming, and non-binary people of Abya Yala*, also known as Latin America and the Caribbean. MUJER strives to create decolonial, anti-oppressive, and empowering community spaces that explicitly prioritize LGBTTIQQ2SA+, Non-Binary, Gender Non-Conforming, Agender, Mad, Crip, and Sick and Disabled voices. Our work centers the decolonization of Latinx** communities in solidarity with the liberation of Black and Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island. We are committed to working from an intersectional feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and participatory framework.
We are looking for committed, motivated, and dynamic individuals with roots from Abya Yala to volunteer for MUJER’s committees:
Volunteers should reflect the diversity of Latinx communities, which is comprehensive of, but not limited to, Indigenous, Black, Afrodescendant, Afrolatinx, Asian Latinx, Muslim Latinx, and other mixed and/or diasporic peoples with roots to Abya Yala, also known as Latin America and the Caribbean. We strongly encourage immigrant, refugee, Indígena, Afrodescendientes, LGBTTIQQ2SA+, Non-Binary, Gender Non-Conforming, Agender, Mad, Crip, and Sick and Disabled community members to apply.
Volunteer time commitments vary but typically include the following:
- Participation in at least one of the Board committees (4-5 hours per month)
- Support of the organization at community events, conferences, and meetings
Becoming a volunteer of MUJER will allow you to contribute towards making a difference in the lives of the Latinx community. You will also gain experience in grassroots non-profit governance, collective organizing and advocacy, volunteer support, project development, event coordination and more!
